Last year I adopted a fluffy orange tabby from Wags to Whiskers resuce group in Porter, TX. He was an affectionate, head-butting, purring monster of a cat. He and Kali clicked right away.
One day he didn't use the litterbox for half the day so I took him to the emergency room. They said he didn't have a blockage but he may have worms because his stomach was extended.
The following month he started loosing weight. Everyone told me that it was part of him growing (growth spurts) but he kept loosing weight and being lethargic. I took him to the vet and they said that it may be FIP. I started crying. A month later he got worse. One night he lost his bladder control. He'd urinate whenever moved and he wouldn't eat and only drink when I placed him in front of the water bowl. I cried to him and apologized to him that I couldn't do anything to help him. That night I cried myself to sleep and Sunny (even hough he was obviously in such pain)jumped up into my bed and slept next to me.
The next morning I took him into a different vet for a second vet. He also said FIP and so I made the choice to put him down. I petted him and he purred as the needle went in him. They could barely find a vein because he was so thin.
Sunny passed away August 2011 at 5 months old.
